Meadow Court, Built on Two Isolated Plots

When the Darras Hall Estate was divided up into building plots which were auctioned off in 1911 there were two plots which were left relatively isolated as they were cut off from the main body of the estate by the railway line which cut through it. This was dismantled in the 1960’s making these two plots much more accessible and in 1967 building work started on Meadow Court. Development started from the south of the site with access provided from Eastern Way. Purchasers could buy a plot and organise the build themselves or could have a bungalow built to order from an architect’s plan.

There was a triangle of land left at the southern end which was occupied by a market garden/plant nursery which was not developed until the 2000’s.
