DarrasIndexBot is operated by Darras Index Ltd, the company behind darrasindex.co.uk. Where it queries a data source directly, it identifies itself with the User-AgentDarrasIndexBot/1.0, which links back to this page. Where we obtain data through a third-party API instead, the request carries that provider's identity rather than ours.What we collect
For each business we record: business name; address, postcode and map coordinates; phone number; website address; business category; star rating and review count; and a contact email address where one is publicly listed against the business.We also store a score we calculate from those fields, used only to decide which businesses to approach first about joining. It is never shown publicly and does not affect how a business appears.Some of these businesses are sole traders, which means a business email address, phone number or address can also be personal data under UK GDPR. We treat it that way.Where the data comes from
Public map and directory data only: OpenStreetMap, which we query directly, and Google Maps listings, which we retrieve through commercial map and search APIs.We do not crawl business websites. We read public directory and map data only. 1. Running the directory. We are building a directory of local businesses serving Darras Hall, Ponteland and the wider Newcastle upon Tyne area, so that residents can find them. Starting from public map and directory data means a business can be found without having to sign up first.2. Approaching businesses about joining. We may use the contact details we hold to tell a business it is listed and invite it to claim or upgrade its listing. That is marketing, so we are naming it as such.Legal basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — maintaining a useful local directory and growing it. You can object to either purpose at any time.How to be removed
Email info@darrasindex.co.uk and include:• The business name as it appears on our site• Your website address or your postcode, so we can identify the right recordYou do not need to give a reason. We aim to remove the record and confirm by reply within 14 days of receiving your request — that is our own target; the statutory deadline of one calendar month is the backstop. We keep a minimal note of the removal — enough to recognise the business — so that a later run does not add it back.If you would rather keep the listing but never hear from us, say that instead and we will stop contacting you.Removal is by request today — there is no automated way to block the bot in advance, and because we never fetch your pages, your own robots.txt has no bearing on whether we hold a record.
