East Farm, a Stapleton Farm

East Farm was one of the Stapleton family-owned farms in Berwick Hill along with Park House and Low House. This was in contrast with its neighbours, West End Farm and South East Farm which were owned by the Ridleys of Blagdon Hall.

The farm was probably similar in age to its neighbours, dating to the early 18th century, The farmhouse appears to be later however and looks to be early to mid-19th century from the exterior. The farm buildings were arranged behind the farmhouse with three ranges open to the south forming a semi-enclosed farmyard. This layout was still evident in a 1947 aerial photograph but had been replaced by the current modern outbuildings by 1960.
