Whalton Village Show
Today, the 19th September, 2026, the annual 'Whalton Village Show' was held. The merry sounds of music, singing and laughter rang strong throughout the day.
In the shows many event tents and within the Village Hall, there could be seen displayed a multitude of talented crafts.
Pampered pooches put their best paws forward in the agility class showing both skill and determination. Similarly, smartly turned out ponies and riders enthralled us with their riding abilities, which would, no doubt, have involved many hours of practice and preparation.
The '3Sixty Bike Stunt Team' were tremendous in their performance which was not made easy by the pretty strong winds that were blowing at the time. They actually broke their personal best when from a stand-still they leapt themselves and their bicycle up vertically over a fragile 50 inch jump, cleared it and landed safely on the other side - phew!
The crowds were spoilt for choice with the varies street food catering establishments on offer. Succulent aromas wafted and permeated the air which turned even a full tummy hungry.
The 'Bubble Whisperer' had the children screaming with laughter and excitement as he propelled an avalanche of soapy bubbles towards them, sending them scattering like skittles only to eagerly come back for more.
'The Ponteland Community Wind Band' and 'The KEVI Steel Pans' drew large crowds of listeners whom applauded enthusiastically at their respective renditions.
A stroll around the classic cars was so enjoyable, the older ones of which brought a sense of nostalgia for the bygone years of elegance and connoisseurship.
The Parish Church of 'St Mary Magalene' an historical 13th Century Grade 1 listed church, was awe inspiring both internally and externally. Visitors were treated to the gently melodic and noble sounds of the Northumberland pipes being played within its magnificent walls - it was quite magical.
The show proved to be well thought out and made for a very successful and terrific 'family day out'. Well done Whalton!
